The digits at the tens place of a two digits number is three times the digits at the ones place . If the sum of this number and the number formed by reversing its digit is 88. find the number​

let x be the digit at tens place and y be the digit at one's place

then as per the first statement,

x = 3y ..........1

number formed before reversing is 10x + y

and number formed after reversing the digits

is 10y + x

now as per the second statement,

10x + y + 10y + x = 88

=> 11x + 11y = 88

=> x + y = 8 [ dividing through by 11 ].........2

now replacing x by 3y from equation 1 in equation 2, we get

=> 3y + y = 8

=> 4y = 8

=> y = 2

=> x = 3y = 3*2 = 6

therefore the number is 62
