Let x be the side of square

By pythagoras theorem

(digonal)²=(side)²+(side)

12²=x²+x²

144=2x²

x²=72

x=√72

x=6√2cm

Area of square=(side)²

=(6√2)²

=72cm²

Perimeter of square=4×(side)

=4×6√2

=24√2

=24×1.414                             (∵√2=1.414)

=33.936
