The dimensions of a metallic cuboid are 30 cm x 20 cm x 15 cm and its mass is 30 kg. If the acceleration due to gravity be 10 m/s 2 . Calculate the pressure exerted by he cuboid when it is resting on the face having sides 20 cm x 15 cm on a table.

Dimensions 30 cm x 20 cm x 15 cm = 0.3 m x 0.2 m x 0.15 m

The resting surface has an area = 0.2 x 0.15 = 0.03m²

Weight of the cuboid = 30 x 10 = 300N

Pressure = Force(Weight) / Area
                = 300/0.03 = 10000 N/m²

Given,

       Dimensions : 30cm x 20cm x 15cm.

       Mass of cuboid : 30kg.

       Acceleration due to gravity { g } : 9.8m/s^2. HERE = 10m/s^2.

        Dimension of the side on contact : 20cm x 15cm.

To calculate,

                    pressure exerted by the object on side of contact.

Calculation,

                Pressure { P } = Force { F } / Area { A }

                 P = F / A

                 We know that FORCE [ F ] = WEIGHT [ W ]

                 P = W / A

                 W = mass x gravity

                 W = mg

                  W = 30 x 10

                   W = 300 N

                  P =  W / A

                   P = 300 / 20 x 15

        20cm x 15cm = 300cm^2

         Thereforce, we need to convert it to m^2 by cross multiplication...

           {1m}^2 = {100cm}^2

           ?          = 300cm^2

          300 / 10,000

         = 3 / 100

  now,

           P = 300 / 3 / 100

           P = 300 x 100 / 3

           P = 100 x 100

           P = 10,000 Pascals { Pa }
