A molecule having zero dipole moment will be symmetrical or linear in shape and will be non-polar in nature.

Whereas a molecule with a specific dipole moment will not have a symmetrical shape but it will be polar in nature.

If a molecule has dipole moment then it will have a bent or angular shape.

Thus, it can be concluded that dipole moment values help in predicting the shapes of covalent molecules.
