The direction of current in a circuit is different from that of electrons, but why is it so if current itself is the flow of electrons?

To provide a definition of currentindependent of the type of charge carriers, conventional current is defined as moving in the same direction as the positive charge flow. So, in metals where the charge carriers (electrons) are negative, conventionalcurrent is in the opposite direction as the electrons.
