The direction of Electric current id from high potential (positive end) to low potential (negative end).

We know that, Electrons move from negative charges towards positive charges. So High Potential consists of positive charge and low potential consists of negative charges and this is the reason that electrons move opposite to the movement of Current.

Because movement of current deals with potentials and movement of electrons deal with Charges.
