Explanation: drift velocity is the  product of the electron mobility and electric field. It is the average velocity of the free charges and opposite of the electric field.

Formula of the drift velocity,

v =\mu E

Where,

E = Electric field

\mu = electron mobility

We know that, the negative charge moves in the opposite direction to the electric field and positive charge moves in the direction of the electric field  and charge carriers are electron in metal.
