Answer: Option (c) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

The discomfort caused by indigestion is due to the formation of excess of acid in the body. Therefore, a base can reduce the effect of acid into the body.

Out of the given options, baking soda, that is, NaHCO_{3} is a mild base and when it is consumed during indigestion, it neutralizes the effect of excess of acid formed in the body.

Thus, it helps in removal of the pain caused by indigestion.

Whereas vinegar and lemon juice are acidic in nature. Therefore, if they are consumed during indigestion they will further increase acid in the body. Hence, they should not be consumed during indigestion.

On the other hand, caustic soda, that is, NaOH is highly basic in nature and it decomposes proteins at ordinary temperature. As a result, it may cause severe burns to the digestive system, eyes, skin etc.

Therefore, consumption of caustic soda is not advised.
