Alkaptonuria:- It is also called as Black urine disease. This cause of this disorder is due to deficiency of enzyme homogentisic acid oxidase. In this, Concentration of the homogentisic acid gets increased in the blood and tissue like ligament, tendon, joints, cartilage and also excreted in urine. When this urine comes in contact with air, homogentisic acid is oxidised into alkapton (Alkaptonuria) which is black in colour so disease is also called black urine disease.
Additional Information:-
Albinism:- It is a another disease like alkaptonuria, this cause of this disorder is deficiency of enzyme tyrosinase therefore the body parts like skin, iris of eye etc., become melanin deficient. Melanin provide protection against U.V. rays.
