the displacement of a moving object in a given interval of time is zero. would the distance travelled by the object also be zero? justify your answer.

The object is consider es as not moving which is at rest position then no displacement is observed so the distance travel les by the object will be zero
As we know displacement means the shortest distance covered by an object .
If this is zero then
We know that Distance means the maximum distance covered by the object
It too become zero.

Hi there !

Displacement is the shortest distance possible between initial and final position.
It is not always necessary that when displacement is zero , distance need not be always zero.

Distance becomes zero when the object is at rest  [ when it is not moving ]

Lets take an example where displacement is zero , but distance covered is not zero.:
An object moving in circular path has displacement zero .
This is because the initial and final position are the same.
But , in this case , even if displacement is zero , distance covered is not zero and is equal to the circumference of the circle
