The displacement of a particle is given by x = (t – 2)^2 where x is in metres and t in seconds. The distance covered by the particle in first 4 seconds is
(a) 4 m
(b) 8 m
(c) 12 m
(d) 16 m

displacement  at  t =0  is :  x =  4 meters...
displacement at t = 2 sec  is  x = 0 meters..
displacement at  t = 4 sec  is :  x =  2^2 = 4 meters

so the particle travels from x = 4 m to x=0 m  in the first 2 sec... and then  from 0m to x = 4 m position in th next two seconds....

distance travelled = 8 meters.
