The formula for distance between two points A and B is

AB=✓(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2

5=✓(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2

25=(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2

25=(a-1)^2+(7-3)^2

25=(a-1)^2+16

25-16=(a-1)^2

(a-1)^2=9

a-1=3

a=4
