Given : Distance between a crest and trough of a transverse wave is 5m.

To Find : Frequency and the Velocity of the wave when t = 5 sec.

Solution :

Two consecutive crest =5m.

Two wave cross in time, t=5sec

Wavelength = distance between two consecutive crest

λ=5m

Velocity of the wave , \[v = \frac{{2\lambda }}{t}\]

 \[v = \frac{{2 \times 5}}{5} = 2m/s\]

v = 2ms ^-1

Hence, wave speed is 2ms ^-1

Now Frequency of the wave

\[f = \frac{v}{\lambda } = \frac{2}{5} = 0.4{s^{ - 1}}\]

Hence , Frequency and the Velocity of the wave is \[0.4{s^{ - 1}}\] and velocity of the wave is 2 m/s.
