Answer:

Speed of passenger train = 42 km/Hr

Speed of express train =   56 km/Hr

Step-by-step explanation:

the distance between Akola and Bhusawal = 168 km

Let say average speed of passenger train  = P km/Hr

average speed of express train = P + 14  km/Hr

Time taken by Passenger Train = \frac {168}{P}  Hr

Time taken by Express Train = \frac {168}{(P+14)}  Hr

Express train takes 1 hour less than a passenger train

\frac {168}{P}   -  \frac {168}{(P+14)}   = 1

Multiplying both sides by P(P+14)

168 (P +14) - 168P = P(P+14)

168 × 14 = P² + 14P

P² + 14P - 2352 = 0

P² + 56P - 42P - 2352 = 0

P (P+56) -42(P+56) = 0

(P-42)(P+56) = 0

P = 42 km/Hr   ( P = -56 not possible as speed can not be negative)

Speed of passenger train = 42 km/Hr

Speed of express train = 42 + 14 = 56 km/Hr
