The distance between point A and B is 722 km. At 8 am a car starts from point A
(towards point B) at 46 kmph and at 10 am another car starts from point B (towards
point A) at 38 kmph. At what time will they meet?
1) 6.30 pm 2) 5.30 pm 3) 6 pm . 4) 4.30 pm ..5) 5 pm

Answer:

The correct option is :- (D) 5pm

Step-by-step explanation:

Let they meet at point O.

The Given Distance between A and B is 722 km.

The Distance between A and is x km and the distance between O and B is therefore (722-x).

Lets see the A's case ,

Distance(d)= x km, Speed(s)= 46 km/hr

Time taken to reach O(T)= ??

d= s*T

x= 46*T

Lets see the  B's case

Distance(D)= 722-x km, Speed(S)= 38 km/hr

Time taken to reach O(T)= ??

D=S*T

722-x=38*T

or, 722-38T = x

Therefore equating x

46 T= 722-38T

or, T = 9 hrs

So since A starts from 8 am , they will meet at (8+9)= 5 pm

Answer:

5 : 30 PM

Step-by-step explanation:

The distance between point A and B is 722 km.

The distance between point A and B is 722 km. At 8 am a car starts from point A  (towards point B) at 46 kmph and at 10 am another car starts from point B (towards  point A) at 38 kmph.

Let say after t hrs from 8 am car meets

then Car starting from A traveled for t hrs

speed of that car = 46 km/hr

Distance = speed * time

Distance covered =  46t  km

Car starting from B traveled for t-2 hrs as it started at 10 AM - 2hrs later than 1st car

Speed of car = 38 km/hr

Distance covered =  38(t -2) = 38t - 76  km

Total distance covered = 722 km  ( distance between A & B)

=> 46t  + 38t - 76 = 722

=> 84t = 798

=> t = 9.5

9 hr 30 min

8 AM + 9 hr 30 min = 5 : 30 PM
