Distance between sun and Earth = (1.496 * 1011)m

Distance between moon and Earth = (3.84 * 108)m

In solar eclipse the arrangement of the three is like given below-

S(SUN)-------- ------- ------ -------- ------ --- M (MOON )- - --- --- - E(EARTH)

Therefore the distance between moon and sun in solar eclipse = (SE - ME) = (1.496 * 1011) - (3.84 * 108)

= (1.496 * 1011) - (0.00384 * 1011)

=1011( 1.496 - 0.00384)

= 1.49216 * 1011 m

... The distance between sun and moon during solar eclipse (in scientific notation is 1.49216 * 1011 m or 1, 49, 21, 60 ,00 ,000 m (in integer form).

Answer:

The distance between the sun and the earth is 1496×10

8

m

As 1 km=1000 m

⇒1.496×10

8

km=1.496×10

8

×10

3

m=1496×10

8

m

And 3.84×10

8

m is the distance between the earth and the moon.

During solar eclipse the Moon comes in between the Earth and the Sun.

So,

Distance between moon and the sun = distance of earth from sun - distance of earth from the moon

=(1496×10

8

−3.84×10

8

) m

=(1496−3.84)×10

8

=1492.16×10

8

m.
