The correct answer is 18 cm.

Given: The distance between the opposite corners of a rectangular plot = 30m.

Length of the plot = 24m.

To Find: Breadth of rectangle.

Solution:

The distance between the opposite corners is the diagonal of rectangle.

Length = 24 cm.

So, in this case a right angled triangle is formed.

As we know all the angles of a rectangle are right angles.

The length is base, diagonal is hypotenuse and breadth is height.

d^{2} =l^{2} +b^{2}  (d is diagonal, l is length, b is breadth).

30^{2}=24^{2}  +b^{2}

900 = 576 + b^{2}

b^{2} =900-576

b^{2} =324

b = 18 cm

Hence, the breadth is 18 cm.
