We have to find the distance between P(1 ,4) and Q(4, 0).

Solution : we know, if there are two points A(x₁ , y₁) and B(x₂ , y₂) , distance between these two points is given by,

AB=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

so, distance between P(1, 4) and Q(4, 0) is given by, PQ = \sqrt{(1-4)^2+(4-0)^2}

= \sqrt{(-3)^2+(4)^2}

= 5

Therefore the distance between points P(1,4) and Q(4,0) is 5.
