distance =√[(8-a)²+(a-1)²]

5. = √[(8-a)²+(a-1)²]

25= (8-a)²+(a-1)²

64+a²-16a+a²+1-2a=25

2a²-18a+65-25=0

2a²-18a+40=0

a²-9a+20=0

a²-5a-4a+20=0

a(a-5)-4(a-5)=0

(a-5)(a-4)=0

so,

a-5=0. or. a-4=0

a=5. or. a=4.
