In 1/2 hrs the train from x covers :

0.5 × 80 = 40km

The remaining distance is :

220 - 40 = 180km

Let the distance from y to the meeting point be z then:

The distance to be covered by the train from x is 180 - z

The time to meet is the same :

(180 - z) / 80 = z/100

18000 - 100z = 80z

18000 = 180z

z = 100

Distance from x is :

220 - 100 = 120 km
