The distance between two consecutive latitudes is always the same bit it is not in case of longitude. Explain why this is so
Answers
Answer:
The distance between two successive lines of latitude remain constant (111km) because latitudes run parallel to each other and never meets the other latitude. But distance between the longitudes decreases as they go towards the Pole. Finally, all longitudes meet at the Poles.
The distance between two consecutive latitudes is always the same but it is not the case of longitudes because -
• The latitudes are parallel with each other. That's why in between distance of two consecutive latitudes is always same in any part of those latitudes.
• But, longitudes are not parallel with each other, because they meet in the both polar regions. That's why in between distance of two longitudes in the polar regions is less than the in between distance of two longitudes in the equatorial region.
