Given :  the distance between two points m and n on a graph is given as √10² + 7²

the point of m are -4,3

and n points lies in first quadrant

To find  : all possible x coordinates of point

Solution:

Distance between points  (a , b)  and (  c , d)  is given by

√(c - a)²  + ( d - b)²

m ( - 4 , 3)   and  n ( x , y)

Distance = √ (x - (-4))²  + ( y - 3)²

= √ (x+4)²  + ( y - 3)²

√10² + 7²

x + 4 = ±10

=>  x= 6  ,  - 14

Hence x coordinate value is 6    as in 1st Quadrant x is +ve

x + 4 = ±7

=> x = 3  , - 11

Hence x coordinate value is 3    as in 1st Quadrant x is +ve

so possible value of  x  coordinates of point   are  3 or 6
