Given that,

The distance between two points on a stretched string is 20 cm.

Frequency of the progressive wave, f = 400 Hz

Velocity of the wave, v = 100 m/s

To find,

The phase difference between these two point.

Solution,

Firstly, lets find wavelength of the wave. It is given by :

\lambda=\dfrac{v}{f}\\\\\lambda=\dfrac{100\ m/s}{400\ Hz}\\\\\lambda=0.25\ m

The phase difference of the wave is given by :

\Delta \phi=\dfrac{2\pi}{\lambda}\times \Delta x

\Delta x is path difference

\Delta \phi=\dfrac{2\pi}{0.25}\times \dfrac{20}{100}\\\\\Delta \phi=5.02\ rad

So, the phase difference between these two point is 5.02 radian.
