The speed of the 1st train is 70 km/h and 2nd train is 75 km/h.

  • total distance = (total speed) * (total time taken)
  • Let speed of 1st train be x . Then, speed of 2nd train is x + 5.
  • After three hours net distance covered by two trains

                           = 3*x + 3*(x+5)

                           = 6x+15

  • given ,

        6x + 15 = 455 - 20

        6x + 15 = 435

        6x = 420

        x = 70

  • Thus speed of 1st train is 70 km/h and other's speed is 75 km/h
