Question :-

  • Fnd the speed of the body from the graph?

Answer :-

The two perpendicular lines represent distance and time. when when you represent data graphically you must mention the units. you must also choose a scale. In this case for example you could let 1 cm = 1 s. on the time axis and 1 cm = 2m on the distance axis. The body covers 3 metre in 1 second. The point A on the graph represents this. To plot a point A we mark the point corresponding to 1 s on the time axis and

draw a perpendicular to the axis at this point. p similarly we draw a perpendicular to the distance axis at the point corresponding to 3 m. Point A is the point where the two perpendicular intersect.

we can plot points B, C ,and D in a similar way to represent the distance covered by the body in 2s, 3s, and 4s respectively. The distance time graph of a body in uniform motion is always a straight line.

According to the graph , the distance covered in 2s (represented by OF) is 6m (represented by OG)

⠀∴ speed of the body

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=  \dfrac{distance\:travelled}{time\:taken} =  \dfrac{OG}{OF}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=  \dfrac{6m}{2s}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀= 3  \dfrac{m}{s}
