Jane have to walk 5.5 km more than Joe.

Explanation:

Given: The distance from Joe's house to the creek is 5.5 km. The distance from Jane's house to the creek is twice as far. Both Joe and Jane are leaving their houses to go to the creek.

To find: The distance, in meters, does Jane have to walk than Joe.

Solution:

Consider the attached pic.

It is given that the distance between Joe's house and Creek's house is 5.5 km, and the the distance between Jane's house to Creek's house is double than the distance between Joe's house and Creek's house.

So, the distance between Joe's house and Creek's house is 11 km.

Now, we have to find the distance, in meters, does Jane have to walk than Joe.

Joe and Jane both leave their houses at the same time.

So, the distance Joe has to cover is 5.5 km

So, the distance Jane has to cover is 11 km

Therefore, the distance Jane has to cover more than Joe is 11-5.5=5.5 km

Hence, Jane have to walk 5.5 km more than Joe.
