The distance from the sea influences the temperature is a TRUE statement.
FACTORS AFFECTING WEATHER:
- The water absorbs and releases heat at a slower rate than the land surface.
- Coastal areas tend to be much cooler than inland areas as the cold winds from the sea rise up, it lowers down the surrounding area thus creating a low-temperature range during the summers.
- During winters, land releases heat quicker than the coastal areas leading to more cold winters.
- In inland are the far-off areas from the water bodies that experience the high-temperature range leading to hot summers and chilling winters.
- Example - Goa is a coastal plain whereas Uttar Pradesh is an inland state. The former experiences milder winters than the latter because it is situated close to the ocean.
