Explanation :

Given that p(2,3) i.e x axis can be taken by assuming a point (2,0) and b point ( 2,3)

now taking both the points a and b by distance formula,

Distance formula:

A=2,0 B= 2,3

 \sqrt{(2 - 2) {   }^{2}  +( 3 -0) {}^{2}  }

 \sqrt{( {0)  }^{2}  + ( {3)}^{2} )}

 \sqrt{( {3)}^{2} }

square root and square get cancelled,

=3units.
