 \sqrt{(x2 - x1) ^{2} +(y2 - y1)^{2}  }

so the points are A(5,0) and B(-3,0)

now

AB =  \sqrt{( - 3 - 5)^{2} + (0 - 0) ^{2}  }

AB =   \sqrt{ {(8)}^{2} - 0 }  \\ AB = 8cm
