The distance sides of a parallelogram are 48cm and 36cm if the distance between shorter sides is 16cm find the distance between the longer sides

Let ABCD be a parallelogram.

AD = BC = 12 cm 

AB = CD = 4 cm

Distance between longer sides, AL = 6 cm

Distance between shorter sides, CM = X
Area of parallelogram ABCD  =base × corresponding height

= BC × AL
= 12 × 6
= 72 cm2

Also area of parallelogram ABCD
=base × corresponding height

⇒72   = AB × CM
⇒72   = 4 cm
⇒CM = 724 = 18 cm
