Distance travelled in 4th second

=Average velocity in 4th second

=(Velocity in starting of 4th second+velocity at the end of 4 th second)/2

=(Velocity at the end of 3rd second+ velocity at the end of 4th second)/2

=(u+3×3+u+3×4)/2

=u+(21/2)

Similarly distance travelled in 2nd second

=(Velocity travelled at the end of 1st second+ velocity travelled at the end of 2nd second)/2

=(u+3×1+u+3×2)/2

=u+9/2

According to the question

Distance travelled in 4th second

=2(distance travelled in 2nd second)

Therefore

u+21/2=2(u+9/2)

Or u=3/2 m/s
