As we know that the angle covered by a minute hand in 1 minute is equal to = 360/60 = 6°
∴ In 10 minute = 6° × 10 = 60°
The distance traveled by the tip of a minute hand in 10 minutes will be an arc of a circle with a radius of 20 cm which subtends a 60° angle at the center.
so, length of arc = Ф/ 360 × 2πr
= 60/360 × 2π(20)
= 1/6 × 40π
= 20/3 π cm
= 20.93 cm
Hence, the distance traveled by the tip of the minute hand in 10 minutes is 20.93 cm.
