Explanation:

The distribution of pattern of railway network in the country has been largely influenced by physiograpic economic and administrative factor :-

1. The northern plain with there vast level of land and high population and rich agricultural resources provided the most favourable conditions for there growth.

2. The large no. Of rivers requiring construction of bridges across there wide beds posed some obstacles.

3. In the hilly terrains of peninsular region railway tracks are laid through low hilly gaps or tunnels.

4. The himalayan mountain are too unfavourable for the construction of railway lines due to high relief sparce population and lack of economic activities.

5. Likewise it was difficult to lay railway lines on the sandy plain of Western rajasthan, swamps of gujrat, forested tracks of madhya pradesh, chhattisgarh, odisha and jharkhand.
