The dot plot shows how Mr. Ruda’s class scored on a 5-point math quiz. Mr. Ruda described the data as having a spread from 0 to 5, a center of 3, two clusters, and a peak at 5. Where did Mr. Ruda make an error?



The spread is from 0 to 8.
The center is at 2.
There is only one cluster.
The peak is at 8.

Solution:

or data can be written as

0 0 0  1  1  1  1  1  2 2 2 2 2 4 4 4 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5

Spread   is from 0 to 5       CORRECT

Peak is at  5     CORRECT

There are two clusters    CORRECT  

(from 0 to 2  and 4 to 5 ) gap is at 3

Median will be 24/2 +  1  = 13th data

Hence  Center is at  2    2  is  13th data  

Mr. Ruda make an error  claiming a center of 3
