Given:

The double bar graph showing the average monthly temperatures of two cities over 4 months period.

To find:

Answers to the given questions.

Solution:

(i) The vertical axis or Y-axis shows the average temperature in degrees Celsius. Each 1 cm block on the vertical axis represents the average temperature of 10°C.

(ii) The horizontal axis or X-axis represents the four months March, April, May and June while the Y-axis represents the average monthly temperature of two cities in °C.

The average monthly temperature of Dehradun in various months is answered below:

(a) March - 25°C

(b) April - 35°C

(c) May - 40°C

(d) June - 35°C

(iii) The average monthly temperature in Delhi for the whole 4 months is =

   \frac{sum \: of \:average \:  temperatures \: of \: Delhi \: for \: four \: months}{number \: of \: months}

 =  \frac{30 + 40 + 45 + 50}{4}

 =  \frac{165}{4}

 = 41.25°C

Hence, The average monthly temperature in Delhi for the whole 4 months is 41.25°C.

(iv)

The difference between the temperature of Delhi and Dehradun in the month of

March = (30 - 25)°C = 5°C

April = (40 - 35)°C = 5°C

May = (45 - 40)°C = 5°C

June = (50 - 35)°C = 15°C

Hence, the difference between the temperature of Delhi and Dehradun is maximum in the month of June and the difference is 15°C.
