The driver of a car driving at the speed of 38 km/h located a bus 40 m ahead of him. after 20 seconds, the bus is 60 m behind.

We have to find the speed of the bus.

solution : speed of car = 38 km/h = 38 × 5/18 = 10.55 m/s

initial bus is 40 ahead of a car but after 20 seconds it is 60 behind of the car.

so distance gained by car over the bus in 20 seconds = 40 + 60 m = 100m

using formula,

Time = relative distance/relative speed

⇒20 seconds = 100m/( 10.55 - v) , let the speed of bus is v

⇒20 = 100/(10.55 - v)

⇒v = 10.55 - 5 = 5.55 m/s = 5.55 × 18/5 km/h

= 20 km/h

Therefore the speed of the bus is 20 km/h.

Answer:

The driver of a car driving at the speed of 38 km/h located a bus 40 m ahead of him. after 20 seconds, the bus is 60 m behind.

We have to find the speed of the bus.

initial bus is 40 ahead of a car but after 20 seconds it is 60 behind of the car.

so distance gained by car over the bus in 20 seconds = 40 + 60 m = 100m

⇒20 = 100/(10.55 - v)

⇒v = 10.55 - 5 = 5.55 m/s = 5.55 × 18/5 km/h

= 20 km/h

Therefore the speed of the bus is 20 km/h.
