Factors upon which the stopping of car depends:

Let the stopping distance be d :

 {v}^{2}  =  {u}^{2}  + 2ad

 \implies \: 2ad =  {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2}

 \implies \: d = \dfrac{ {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2} }{2a}

 \implies \: d = \dfrac{ {(0)}^{2}  -  {u}^{2} }{2a}

 \implies \: d = \dfrac{  -  {u}^{2} }{2a}

So , the factors will be :

  • Initial velocity of the car

  • Acceleration(i.e retardation) of the car

  • Type of road (i.e. dry asphalt roads help in better grip as compared to wet roads).
