EXPLANATION:

The Netherlands has created a monopoly on the Moluccan spice trade. By an alliance with Sultan Ternate in the Moluccas in 1607 they gained control of the clove trade. The Nutmeg trade has been controlled by the Dutch occupation of the Bandas from 1609 to 1623. The Netherlands fully controlled the area in 1641 when the Portuguese captured Melaku
