The different phases of the Stone Age are:

1. Palaeolithic Age: In the Paleolithic period (roughly 2.5 million years ago to 10,000 B.C.), early humans lived in caves or simple huts or tepees and were hunters and gatherers. They used basic stone and bone tools, as well as crude stone axes, for hunting birds and wild animals.

2. Mesolithic Age : The Mesolithic Period, or Middle Stone Age, is an archaeological term describing specific cultures that fall between the Paleolithic and the Neolithic Periods. While the start and end dates of the Mesolithic Period vary by geographical region, it dated approximately from 10,000 B.C. to 8,000 B.C.

3. Neolithic Age : The Neolithic Age began around 12,000 years ago and ended as civilizations started to rise around 3500 B.C. The term Neolithic comes from two words: neo, or new, and lithic, or stone. As such, this time period is sometimes referred to as the New Stone Age.
