Given :- The earning of Rakesh is 40 percent more than the earning of Suresh .

To Find :- By how much percent (approx) the earning of Suresh is less than the earning of Rakesh?

A 28.5%

B 35%

C 20%

D 25.5%

Solution :- (By Basic Method)

Let us assume that, arranging of suresh is Rs.100x .

so,

→ Earing of rakesh = 40% more than suresh = (140 * 100x)/100 = Rs.140x .

then,

→ Earing of suresh less than rakesh = 140x - 100x = Rs.40x

therefore,

→ Required % = (Less than * 100) / (Earning of rakesh) = (40x * 100)/140x ≈ 28.5% (A) (Ans.)

Shortcut Method :-

if earing of A is R% more than earing of B ,

the earing of B is less than earing of A by :-

  • (R * 100) / (100 + R) %

if earing of A is R% less than earing of B ,

the earing of B is more than earing of A by :-

  • (R * 100) / (100 - R) %

A/q,

→ Required % = (40 * 100)/(100 + 40) = (4000/140) ≈ 28.5% (A) (Ans.)
