The earth attracts an apple. Does the apple also attract the earth? If it does, why does the earth not move towards the apple?

Answer:

Any object that has mass applies gravitational force on another object. In the case suggested above, the mass of Earth is much more than the mass of the apple (obviously), and hence the force applied by Earth on the apple is much more than it is the the reverse case. So, Earth attracts the apple towards itself rather than apple pulling the Earth towards itself.

Hope it helps..

according to the second law f=ma .this means that more mass less acceleration.. therefore earth has more mass and this leads to less acceleration.while apple mass is very less and that's why applfalls down
