the earth attracts an apple.does the apple also attract the earth?if it does ,why does the earth not move towards the apple

yes, apple also attract earth. but the force by which Apple attract the earth is negligible as compared to the force applied by earth to attract apple. so, earth do not move towards apple but apple moves towards earth

the question is jolly good. so it seems that if earth pulls an apple towards it, then the earth should also move towards the apple's gravity. but the important thing to notce here is the mass of earth is thousands of times greater than that of the apple, it would require thousands of apple's to attain the mass of one earth another example, if sun pulls earth, then why doesn't the earth pulls sun?

The point is that, the object with a greater mass can attract a object towards it and not vice-versa.

In fact the apple does pull the earth, but due to lack of mass which inturn lacks gravity, the earth doesn't move towards the apple.
