Reason for the Earths inner core is solid and outer core is liquid though the pressure and temperature in the inner core is higher:

• The total pressure in the inner core of the earth is around 3.6 million atm (atmospheric pressure) and its temperature is around 5200 degrees Celsius.

• Therefore it can be concluded that the total temperature of the inner core exceeds the melting point of the Iron by a huge gap.

• But it is the intense pressure which is present inside the inner core which is helping the iron inside it melt.

• The total amount of density and the pressure is too much for any solid iron to turn liquid.

• Therefore it is often said that the inner core is actually the plasma which is acting like its solid due to the large amount of pressure in it.

• The temperature inside the core of the earth can go up to 6000° C . As the temperature increases as we go deeper into the earth. The outer core of the earth is 2400 km in length and consists of mostly iron and nickel. The distance between the inner and outer core is about 5150 km.  

• Due to the presence of higher temperatures found inside the outer core its forms a liquid layer. Due to the increase of pressure for the outer core, the inner core becomes solid due to the melting point of these metals.
