An echo is received by the sounder after 2 seconds. Also, the speed of sound in sea-water is 1500 m/s.

We have to find the depth of sea water below the ship.

Let us assume that the depth of sea water below the ship is 'x' m.

A ship is producing an echo which is going down to the depth of thesea and coming back which is later received by the sounder. Distance from ship to sea is 'x' and again it coming back through the same pathway. So, again the distance covered is 'x'.

Total distance covered = x + x = 2x

Given speed of sound is 1500 m/s and time is 2 sec.

Now,

Distance = Speed × Time

Substitute the known values

→ 2x = 1500 × 2

→ 2x = 3000

Divide by 2 on both sides,

→ 2x/2 = 3000/2

→ x = 1500

Therefore, the depth of sea water below the ship is 1500 m.

✰✰ ANSWER ✰✰

\longrightarrow{Given\:Time=2\:sec.}

\longrightarrow{Given\:Speed=1500\:ms}

\longrightarrow{Depth=?}

\longrightarrow{\textbf{Let\:the\:depth\:be=y\:m.}}

As the Echo will go down to depth of Sea Water and will come back again after striking there..So ,

\longrightarrow{Total\:Distance=y+y}

\longrightarrow{Distance=2y}

\longrightarrow{\small{\boxed{\bold{\bold{\blue{\sf{Distance=Speed\times{Time}}}}}}}}

Putting Values : -

\longrightarrow{2y=1500\times{2}}

\longrightarrow{2y=3000}

\longrightarrow{y=\cancel\dfrac{3000}{2}}

\longrightarrow{\large{\boxed{\bold{\bold{\green{\sf{y=1500m.}}}}}}}

So,Depth of Sea Water is 1500m...
