Volume of cube of side 6 cm = 6 x 6 x 6 = 216 cm³
Volume of cube with side 2 cm = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 cm³

Number of cubes that can be obtained = 216/8 = 27

Hence, number of required cubes = 27

Given :
• The edge of the cube(a) = 6cm.
• Edge of the one cube among all the identical cubes which can be formed from the given cube(b) = 2cm.

Required to find:
• Number of cubes with edge 2cm that can be formed from the cube with edge 6cm.

Solution:
Let the number of cubes be n.

Volume of a cube with edge 'x' is given by x³.

• so the volume of cube with edge 6cm is 216.

• volume of one cube with edge 2cm is 8.

• volume of n identical cubes that can be formed from 6cm cube is given by 8n.

• we know that,
Volume of an object cannot be altered when it change its shape or formed into many pieces.

• hence,
8n = 216
n = 27.

Result :
27 cubes of edge 2cm can be formed from a cube of edge 6cm
