the effective capacitance between A and B is (4) 3C
for series combination,
C eq = C1 * C2 / ( C1 + C2 )
For parallel combination,
C eq = C1 + C2
here, in the given attachment...
the potential difference across the C/2 capacitor is zero
therefore, it is not included in the circuit...
the other two capacitors having capacitance C and 2C are connected in parallel
thus, the effective capacitance between A and B is
C effective = C + 2C = 3 C
