Question :

The effective capacitance between the points P &Q of the arrangement shown in the figure.

Theory :

Combination of Capacitors

1) Series combination

In Series combination, each capacitor has equal charge for any value of capacitances .

⇒Capacitors in series :

For n capacitors connected in series the equivalent capacitance

 \dfrac{1}{c_{eq} }  =  \dfrac{1}{c_{1} }  +  \dfrac{1}{c_{2} }  + ..... +  \dfrac{1}{c_{n} }

2) Parallel Combination

When capacitors are connected in parallel,the potential difference across each capacitor is same .

⇒Capacitors in Parallel :

For n capacitors connected in parallel, the equivalent capacitance is given by ;

c_{eq} = c_{1} + c_{2} + ....  c_{n}

Solution :

{\purple{\boxed{\large{\bold{C_{eq}=1\mu\:F}}}}}
