The effective diameter of the light reflecting area of the mirror​ is called as Aperture .

Aperture is the reflecting surface area exposed to the light.

Mirror whose aperture is smaller than its focal length, we use the formula

f=R/2

The above formula applies to convex and concave mirror

For plane mirror, Radius of curvature is infinity.
