The effective length of a simple pendulum is the sum of the following three length of string , radius of bob, length of hook. In a simple pendulum experiment , the length of the string, as measured by a metre scale is 92.0cm . The radius of the bob combined with the length of the hook, as measured by a vernier callipers is 2.15cm The effective length of the pendulum is

Thanks for asking the question!

ANSWER::

Actual effective length = (90.0 + 2.15) cm

But , in measurement 90.0 cm => Significant digits is 2

So , the addition must be done by considering only 2 significant digits of each measurement.

So , effective length = 90.0 + 2.1 = 92.1 cm

Hope it helps!
