The force on the proton in the field is 5.2 × 10⁻²³ N

Given,

The electric field (E) in the space between the plate of discharge tube is =  3.25 × 10⁻⁴ NC⁻¹

The mass of the proton is (m) =  1.67 × 10⁻²⁷ Kg

The charge of the photon is (q) =  1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ C

If a charge of q is placed in an electric field of E, the force on the charge is,

F = qE

∴ According to this,

Force on the proton is,

F = q × E

F = 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ × 3.25 × 10⁻⁴  N

⇒ F = 5.2 × 10⁻²³ N

So, the force on the proton is 5.2 × 10⁻²³ N.
